Kennel Blindness

It is very easy to spot. In some cases, it has gone too far for the disease to be curable. It ruins all the work of what might have been successful. The best thing to do is ignore these people. They are sick. Kennel Blindness is a real disease. If all someone does is brag about their dogs, their bloodline, their kennel as being better than everyone else’s, the diagnosis is easy. They continue to challenge everyone saying many people praise their bloodline, yet no one is discussing their bloodline. They have no FB groups of a loyal owners. They make it sound like their bloodline is the best, yet almost no one is looking for one. And one big clue is do they brag about their hounds? If so, run away as fast as you can. A breeder who raises great hounds does not have to brag. Other houndsmen will praise his dogs for him. Read the article below. See if any of ithe symptoms apply to you. You can be cured. If such post and article makes you angry, you have a bad case of it. In that case, it may not be curable.

Stop and think about this, and realize the facts of the situation..Most of those that has their bloodline..as they call it..yes, like myself..but if you give it proper thought, i am sure you and others can name several that fit this category..Branko, Bramlett, Oak Hill, and those that in the past and present that consider them selves as having a blood line. They may not admit it, but that is because they are NOT transparent.I have brought other lines of hounds into my kennel just to see if they offered any thing that may enhance my hounds, but so far none i brought into my kennel proved they could add anything..I once had IFC Thor, he is the hound that spread Brucellosiss in my kennel, 30 plus years ago, he was on loan at the time, and as soon as i found out he went back home!! Yes i may be kennel blind but i have never stopped looking for other bloodlines that, just may, be able to contribute to my genetics, but so far none has....
The ONLY way i will be cured is for ANYONE to prove to me thy have better, and i am always open, and i have the space here on my farm, for them to come run hounds and prove to me..some have attempted, but so far none has been successful!!! REBEL

Why is it that when i respond to others, such as this topic, silence becomes common place with others, even those that post threads, such as this thread. Silence is not silent, it tells a great deal about a person..YES i may act and others may have the opinion that i am the ultimate example of kennel blindness, but it comes from those that have no idea, of who i am, nor what i represent, has never meet me, nor ran with me and my hounds, nor visited my facility.I have had my own ARHA club here, licensed in all aspects of ARHA and Licensed as a field Judge in AKC.I have said many times, i run NO personality contest, if i just happen to dislike you, i will so inform you with respect and the same of your hounds, or other hound-men and their chosen bloodline of hounds, or a bloodline i personally have knowledge of.The main thing anyone can expect from me, are the facts and truth of a matter..SO MOTE IT BE!!!!!

I am not silent, but if you are waiting for others to respond, there is almost no one logging on here. I have other obligations right now too.
I wanted to meet you this summer, but as I recall you had back surgery scheduled, and you were still in Florida.
You are right. I don’t really know you. I posted about kennel blindness because I know several people who seem to have a problem being objective. I stand by my words. Let others do the bragging. Men with great accomplishments have no need to brag.

I have 9 hounds that I am feeding. Culls have been sent to pet families. I have taken one cull back because the couple got a divorce, and I have a return to me in the contract if a owner is faced with taking their beagle to a shelter. So the cull is back here. We will do the right thing by him.
I very rarely say my hounds are worthy or good. I will make a little exception just so you know I like what I feed.
The 9 hounds I have are great for me. I have no need to look further for better hounds. They are eager to please. Great conformation. Some new puppies born recently. They are healthy, and may turn out well. Maybe I will be fortunate and have no culls among these. That is hard to do, but I can always hope. Yes, You are right that I do not know you that well. Even though we have communicated for a time, you obviously still do not know me that well either.
I do wish you all the success in this world. I know our days are numbered. Most of our years are behind us. Enjoy the time you have left.

My take on this is that hounds are like children. Parents will from time to time brag on their children. Does that make them the best? No, but the parents are still proud of them. I think that hounds that make their owner proud are the same in that regard. As long as the owner is happy with his pack or packs whichever the case may be, then we as beaglers should be happy for them too. Life is too short to bicker over small things such as this. Also, bloodlines are kinda of like vehicles. Everyone has their personal preference on their favorite make. Keep the hounds rolling!

So i am more than proud you are not silent.I am on my farm in Alabama, and i have to go for infusions every day of the week, cause UAB gave me Staph, not been back to our home in Florida, now going on four months, hope to get back there in the next week or two, hope?? I only talk about things i have accomplished, not brag, about them.I simple have a bloodline of beagles i am proud of, reason being, they produce in like kind, rabbit dogs, and over many, many years i have weeded out all the bad genetics, and reached one of my goals of not producing ANY culls, each and every pup produced from my bloodline will make the type hound you desire, be it a rabbit dog, or any other game you wish to enjoy hunting, and i give a one year guarantee that it will please YOU, may not anyone else, but YOU..Kennel blind, maybe, but not bragging.
Envy can kill relationships, people who have jealousy and competitive feelings may try to take others down. Have you ever heard of the crab mentality where crabs could easily escape from a bucket but some of the crabs pull the other crabs back down to the bottom? The same behavior happens with people, some individuals will try and reduce the confidence of others by and try to stop their progress. They do this by calling others braggers, by sabotaging their actions and putting people down.
Bragging...not me, kennel blind YES, why, cause so far not seen any hounds that i wish to add to my bloodline, YES i am sure there are a few, but i have just not witnessed any to-date..Have a great day and enjoy what you feed and take care..SO MOTE IT BE!!!!

Rebel, let us not start comparing oranges to apples. No one is taking down what is not up.
I am not a competitor. I am not a breeder except rarely, very rarely. I very rarely take a dog to a field trial. Once in the
past two years. But I go to as many field trials as I can without my hounds. When I see good hounds and observe good running, it is only natural to ask what are they out of. Do you think I am hearing Whitener? I am sorry, but the bottom line is the only question I ever asked you
seriously is where are your adherents? Where is your group of people who are breeding to keep the Whitener line pure? Why don't you have a FB group of Whitener breeders? It cannot remain your exclusive bloodline and survive your passing. The bloodline has to be loved by others and they have to want to keep it going. You can get angry at me for asking, but it is a valid question.
As far as envy goes, where do you get that at? Friends should be glad for the success of their friends. I am happy for your success.
I wish you much more of it in the years you have left.

I have thought about what we both have said for a couple of hours. I had an idea. You still have the facilities so why don’t you have a couple of trials at your place this Fall, and early Spring? Create your own opportunity to showcase your bloodline. Does this sound like a good idea to you?

I may entertain having another ARHA club here again, it was called Cherokee Beagle Club, but it will be once i am..if i am..over the physical handicap i have received from Doctors damaging my spine..as for showcasing my bloodline, that has pasted many ears ago, but i am happy it did happen years ago and others came from far away to get pups from my kennel, and paid a premium price for them, and i was on the front page of Better Beagling. I am only concerned in keeping my bloodline alive and continuing to reproduce, in like kind, for the remaining days i have here on earth, show casing is no interest of mine any more, and after my demise, i will no longer have any more involvement with anything i had here on earth, and chances are those that take over what i have built and accomplished, will not keep anything the way i would..Yes, i am more than proud of what i have accomplished with my rabbit dogs, if it interest other that is fine, if it does not, that is ok also.I personally know my hounds reproduce in like kind, i know what each pup produced here is capable of, their conformation and the majority will be under 13"..I am more than happy with my hounds, what else matters? I provide for them, care for them and feed them..SO MOTE IT BE!!!!

Kennel blindness is a blessing. Just think of the joy and pride one would feel. Of course
Being on top is a lonely place to be imagine all the jealous people that would cheat and lie to bring you down. For a person that strives for perfection and never achieves it that’s the disease. All that time spent and never feeling you accomplished your goal! How sad. By the way very good post Andrew. Would you please post this on our Facebook group?

I agree 110%--- post it on Face Book Andrew...
The thing about being on top, think of the great depression..many that reached the top, had lost the ability to climb down from the top, and many in the great depression chose the easy way out.. Suicide..At then the young age of 35 i had, or thought i had reached the top in business, could afford anything i felt i wanted, wore suits, most could not afford and drove vehicles very few could afford, it took a great deal of strength, but i climbed down, put my bluejeans back on and physically went back to work, and still have suites hanging in the closet that i have never wore, but it reminds me that the top is no place i want to ever be again, or if i reach the top, my actions will not show it. I did learn how to survive below my means and not above them, or ever above others that viewed me as being above anyone, as maokusa said..the jealous people that would cheat and lie to bring you down. In the early 70's, in construction, large companies would award you a contract, no mater how high you bid, knowing they were not going to honor it nor pay you a dime, but sense i owed nothing they could not bury me, but they damaged me terrible, but i had the courage, and will power, to bounce back, in my bluejeans!!!!!!

I’m glad you had the gameness to keep pushing forward. That’s the way the rich folks do things. They let you think you’re going to make big bucks when they know they’re going to pull the rug out from under you. A lot of businesses go under when that happens. It doesn’t take but just a small glimpse into our elected officials to see that they don’t work for us. The mighty dollar corrupts many. You know Rebel you might call me kennel blind. And I suppose you would be right if we were all looking for the same thing from our dogs. But I have talked with you enough to know our likes and dislikes about dogs are very different. Different isn’t always bad.

Differences is a blessing, it gives others a chance to pick and chose, just think if we had no choices, what a weir situation that would be..

One thing i forgot to mention, and to me a very, very important thing to remember.."SUCCESS DEPENDS ON HOW WELL YOU HANDLE FAILURE", and believe me..i have had more than my share of failures, but i do my best not to forget my failures and use them as knowledge, and especially how i over came them, or some of them.My advice, when you fall, don't just lay there , get back up and keep on putting one foot in front of the other, you may fall again, but keep on getting up and gaining strength each time, until you are walking upright and on a steady course. There is a song that goes something like this, If you going through Hell keep on going, you may make it through and the Devil may never know you were there...REBEL
Rodney Atkins..if your going through hell.....
